Welcome to the Point of the Mountain Chapter! As a new member of the Sons of the American Revolution, there are a few resources and online tools that will help you get started. This page will introduce you to those resources, show you how to establish your SAR.org account, and help you become familiar with the SAR Membership Database.
New Member Manual Presentation
This presentation provides a condensed, easy-to-follow overview of the NSSAR New Member Manual. It introduces new members to the organization, programs, and opportunities that make up the Sons of the American Revolution.
NSSAR New Member Manual
This is the complete NSSAR New Member Manual, providing more detailed information about the Society, its organization, programs, and opportunities for involvement.
Creating an Account on the SAR.org Website
We strongly recommend that you take time to create an account on the SAR.org website, if you haven’t already. Creating an account will give you access to areas that require a user account. But it also allows you to have a user profile in the Online Membership Database (Blue). The steps below are for a member who has not registered for an account with the SAR.org.

Select the Register tab to create an account and complete the requested information. When your membership application was approved, you should have received an email from National HQ congratulating you on your membership approval. You may see your membership number in that email. If so, click the box “Already have a Member Number” and enter your number. If you weren’t given your member number you can reach out to the chapter registrar who will be able to provide you with your number.
Access Your Member Provile
If you click Register and don’t automatically go to your user profile on the SAR Home page select Quck Links. You may need to enlarge your browser window to see navigation items that are hidden by other buttons.

Review and Update Your Profile

This is your user profile area that displays the information you used to register. On the left you see other links that are available to use while in the Membership Database. To review your user profile, click My Profile at the left.
The My Profile area contains a number of tabs. Most of the tabs are self-explanatory. The User Profiel tab should contain the information you used when you registered. Review this information for correctness.
You can also enter your national member and state number here. The Utah Society SAR secretary assigns state numbers. The chapter registrar will be able to help you obtain your state number.
Your profile also lets you see or input awards you may receive. State awards are enered by the state secretary. National awards by National.
If you decide to connect with another state society, your memberships are available on the Membership tab.
The Patriot Ancestors tab allows you to see details on your patriot ancestors and additional ancestors you’ve connected with through supplemental applications.

Using My Applications

My Applications is where you can create new applications for additional Patriots you’ve found in your family tree. This online application system is relatively easy to use, but you may need some assistance from the chapter registrar. Being a member of the Point of the Mountain Chapter allows the chapter regisgtrar to access and review your application. He’ll make sure that you have used the correct format on dates and places. Each generation requires supporting documentation such as that shown on our Discovery page.
Need Help?
Don’t hesitate to ask. The SAR website and Membership Database contain a great deal of information, and you aren’t expected to learn everything at once. If you have questions about your membership record, applications, or Patriot ancestors, contact the Point of the Mountain Chapter and we’ll help you find the right place to start.
