Chapter Supports RootsTech 2026
March 5, 6, 7, 2026 – The Salt Palace – Salt Lake City, Utah
Fifteen members of the Point of the Mountain Chapter and the Utah Society provided support at RootsTech 2026, held March 5–7 at the Salt Palace in Salt Lake City, Utah.
And for the third year in a row, the National Society of the Sons of the American Revolution hosted the booth in the exhibition hall for the purpose of engaging visitors with the question, “Do you have a patriot ancestor?” Many of our visitors from 24 states answered this question immediately with the name of at least one ancestor who participated in the Revolution. Others weren’t sure but wanted to find out if they did.
Deborah Maddux, lead genealogist at National HQ, conducted a session titled “Sea to Shining Sea – The American Revolution Outside of the Colonies”. Also traveling from National HQ was Travis Franklin, a staff genealogist. Both were very helpful in talking to the many booth visitors. A compatriot from Missouri also volunteered at the booth between attending conference sessions.
POM Chapter member Peter Sweeny dressed in his patriot ancestor’s military uniform and Doug Adams wore colonial clothes that might have been worn by his patriot ancestor who functioned as a spy for the patriot’s cause. Trent Grandy represented the Utah Society’s Color Guard on Saturday, Family Day. All in all it was a very successful three days.
